The Jail System

Nebraska has 93 counties and 66 jail facilities with a rated capacity of 2,976. The NE Crime Commission inspects jails and enforces standards compliance.

The Prison System

The Dept. of Correctional Services operates 10 facilities with 4,505 inmates at the end of 2007. The agency employs 2,283 staff with a 2007 budget of $163.2 million.

The Community Corrections System

The Nebraska Probation System, under the authority of the NE Supreme Court, supervises 18,910 probationers. The DOC's Adult Parole Administration supervises 800 parolees.
