The Jail System

A single jail is operated by the state DOC for all pre-trial offenders. The facility, called Intake Service Center, has a capacity of 1,148.

The Prison System

The Dept. of Corrections is a unified system, there are no county jails. The DOC operates 5 prisons for men, 2 facilities for women, and a jail. There were 4,018 inmates in 2007 and a staff of 1,502.

The Community Corrections System

Probation & Parole is under the DOC's Div. of Rehabilitative Services. The agency supervised 26,137 probationers and 462 parolees in 2007.
