Parallel Perceptions: Gender, Job Enrichment and Job Satisfaction Among Correctional Officers in Women's Jails

The available research, presented in this document, comparing men and women in correctional occupations suggests that they tend to be more alike than different in their job behaviors and in their perceptions of the workplace. An important difference was discovered. Female staff bring more of a social service orientation to their work than do male staff, coinciding with the movement toward a human service model for corrections work. Accession Number: 014055
