WORKING WITH WOMEN IN PRISON

This workshop looks at principles of effective intervention and how these principles can be applied to controlling and changing offenders' behavior. Sections include: treatment v. punishment; what works -- overview of treatment effectiveness; criminal behavior and predictors of risk; overview of classification and assessment; the Correctional Program Assessment Inventory (CPAI); targets for change and the responsibility principle; introduction to motivational interviewing; overview of cognitive restructuring; supplemental reading; and samples of four risk assessment instruments.
