There have been ten community courts opened since the first one began in 1993 in midtown Manhattan, with 13 more planned to open in the near future. Steps in developing community courts and descriptions of operating courts are provided. This text is divided into four sections -- introduction, overview, community court profiles, and conclusion. The overview section discusses ways in which problems arising from implementing the community court model are addressed. There are 11 community court profiles contained in this document.
