Community outbreaks of skin infections associated with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Los Angeles are reported. Three outbreaks are discussed: two athletes on the same team; infections among men who have sex with men (MSM); and 928 inmates at the Los Angeles County Jail who were initially diagnosed with spider bites but subsequently found to have MRSA.
