This 40-hour program focuses on effective small-jail administration and the basic administrative tools that can be applied to every area of jail operations. Administrative tools covered are: action planning; awareness of administrative liability; jail standards; development and use of policies and procedures; effective inmate supervision; methods for determining adequate staffing levels; developing a staff training plan; fire, safety, and sanitation plans; and documenting jail operations. This CD-ROM contains the course description, lesson plans, participant's manual, and PowerPoint presentations. (Draft curriculum only.)
