A grant supported program, the Day Reporting Center (DRC) provides an effective alternative to incarceration for misdemeanants. There are three phases to the program, with the participant living at home, paying a monthly $35 supervision fee, being gainfully employed, and providing 10 hours of community service work per week. The DRC's per diem rate is $10.33 compared to that of the jail at $37. Caseloads are very manageable at 25 participants per case manager. Participants are in the program for six months.
